On Oct.27,2001, the revised Copyright Law was approved at the 24th session of the standing committee of the Ninth National People’s Congress, and entered into force as of the date of promulgation. To meet the requirement of China’s entry into WTO, the revision of copyright is further perfect the legal system for intellectual property protection.

The Copyright Law constitutes six Chapters with 60 Articles in total.

The revised Copyright Law has made necessary amendments in respect of the protection objects of copyright, the exclusive right for copyright owner, the rights of screenwriter, director, cameraman, lyricist, composers and other authors in a cinematographic work or works created in such a way similar to cinematographic work, the reasonable use of the copyright owner’s work, the preservation of evidences in enforcement as well as the diffusion right of information networks.
